My parents stopped me when I was about 8 years old because they believed that it was better to just sit down and talk to me and my siblings when we were misbehaving and they would ground us from something like no TV are phone for a week or so. And I can strongly say that me and my brother are disciplined enough. Neither of us have ended up in jail or been taken home by the police.
